I know I don't update much anymore but unfortunately we had Sandy pts today. She'd had a stroke and it caused minor paralysis to her left hand side including blindness. Although she was ok with it and we thought we could keep her going a bit longer last night she let us know she'd had enough so the vet came out today :(

It doesn't seem like 2 and a half years since a thread appeared on here with her advert on it. We still can't thank Carey and Jane enough for picking her up and bringing her into our lives.

This was my first impression of her. She smiled all the way home even though she was bewildered and scared.

It didn't take her long to get her feet firmly under the table. Her name was changed from Candy to Sandy as mum didn't like Candy and she quickly discovered a liking for family parties (especially BBQs)!!

She had her first Christmas with us:

She went from being scared of grass to loving playing in the garden:

She attended her first (and only) dog show

and developed a keen taste for tug of war with Yellow Dog

The two of them were best friends and he doesn't really realise she's gone yet :(

She had some enormous shoes to fill as we'd not long lost Lucky Bear who we'd had for 15 years but she did the job and more. She kept my parents going through some tough times and was always ready with a big, slobbery hug for anyone who needed it. I only wish we'd had her since she was a pup, two and a half years with her wasn't nearly enough :(

RIP Sandy Sausage, your absence is keenly felt.
 
Bless her. It may only have been 2 1/2 years with you, but I bet to her, it was the best time ever and she truly loved you too.

What a lovely tribute to a beautiful dog. She was obviously loved and enjoyed 2-1/2 years being cared for and loved by you. RIP Sandy & hugs for you
 
Oh I am so sad to read this. Sandy's story was so wonderful, she really was a HHO dog. She was so lucky to spend her last few years with you, thoughts to your family and yellow dog. RIP Sandy.:(
 
Just look at that wild, happy dog laugh in pic 4! She obviously had a complete ball with your family and enjoyed every minute. Thank you for giving her such a lovely home. You will see each other again at The Rainbow Bridge. Much love and sincere condolences to you, and, of course, Yellow Dog
 
That first picture is how I will always remember her but in my car! After picking her up from that awful flat and finding out they had only had her a week and already replaced her with a younger model I sobbed! So glad she has had a wonderful 2.5 years with you and your family and like you wish it could have been longer. Sleep tight precious Sandy.
 
So very sad for your loss, but boy, did you do right by that gorgeous girlie. She was so lucky you came along and gave her such a wonderful few years. She obviously brought so much joy into your house!

Just back tracked your posts and realised who this puppy was.

Well done you giving her some fine twilight years, hopefully Will (also rescued through here) has found her across the bridge and they are probably muttering something about the nutters on HHO AAD driving across country picking up dogs :)

What a beautiful and moving tribute to a much-loved family friend. You gave her two and a half wonderful years. I am very sorry for your loss . . . RIP Sandy.

Just read back through the original thread, what a lovely person you are! So sorry to hear she's gone, but you gave meaning and joy back to her life.
 
Thank you everyone for your kind words, I've passed them all on to my mum. Mum and Dad picked her up from the crematorium today (it's near Stourport and is highly recommended by us if anyone needs their services - also do horses) and also bought a rose to plant for her. Still weird not to hear her huffing and thudding about but knowing we made the right choice to let her go has helped immensely.
 
What a lovely tribute and beautiful photos, lucky girl she was to be so loved and cherished, I am going to read the original thread now...if I can see through my teary eyes, RIP sweet lady xx
