This seemed the most apprioate section to post in, I sadly lost my Spotty Pony this morning due to colic, had got up earylish as was meant to be hunting the other horse, was feeding them in the dark, and realised she had colic, so called the vets and unforunately they said if their was any chance it would need operating, which we weren't prepared to put her thru. She was 22 had done her check ligament last year and would not suit life as a field ornament, I got to hunt her one more time this season which I never thought o would last year. We've owned her 9.5 years during which time we've had plenty off ups and downs, she's taught me so much about jumping and being patient, once I started hunting her she was brilliant and two seasons we retired just as a hunter, were I knew she was safe with hounds, would jump pretty much anything I put her at, maybe a bit strong but I always felt safe on her, and everyone knew her, she had given me soo much confidence and I know I hunt as much as possable on anything, but she was always my special one. Always thought she would her leg or heart would go out hunting, never this way. Allthough the vet had to PTS I played a recording of the horn for her. So remeber to apprieacte your horses, cherish their memories and how much they help us out hunting.
RIP Spots my first pony and pony off a lifetime, we had lots more fun and memories than I ever thought possable, missing you allready. Xxx

Thank you everyone, was a massive shock as well, as she's never had colic before so very unexpected, but she was so full off life all this past week cantering off and having a little jump, so at least up untill last nite/early this morning she was feeling good! Have just hacked by other one and we saw the hunt and watched for a bit, which has helped as need to be kept busy and will help me bond even more with her. Xx

Thank you, ideally I would off had the hunt do everything and a proper hunt, but when I rung them once we knew it wasn't survivable they had allready left for the meet (it was one of our locals meets) so decided that a recording was at least better than nothing, wound up my new horse a fair bit tho!!
