It’s been over a week now since I had to have my lovely chap PTS. It all happened so quickly when the vet arrived… it was all a blur…. Unfortunately the melanoma(s) took over which I had that gut feeling they would do.

I had Storm for 16 lovely years - he was 29yrs old and went to sleep for the very last time on the 29th.... a pretty good age for a TB. He made me laugh - a very chatty horse. I remember (in his younger years) whilst out hacking he would have an odd trip and I went sailing over his ears and landed on the deck and he would call out and look at me as if to say.... “what the heck are you doing down there..... you silly moo!“
I never forget it when he took a liking to the boot of a hired car I had… he sharpened his teeth on top of the boot lid and made a lovely design!

He was only pulling my arm out of my socket as I led him back from the field to the yard the day before… Night Night sleep tight Stormy xxx

It has only just occurred to me now what do I do with his passport. Can someone please tell me if I have to notify the Passport Issuing Agency that he is now deceased? Thanks

So sorry for your lose, but please remember storm was one of the lucky ones, he got to spend 16 years with a wonderful owner, so many horses don't get that. RIP Storm xx

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have alot of happy memorys to cherish although I know right now that isn't much comfort. But do try to remember all those happy times. Thats how he would want you to remember him.
(((((((((hugs))))))))) to you.

RIP Storm. Run free. xxxxxx

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Storm was the same age as my old TB, Bob, when I lost him last year. Miss him terribly still, but it is a good age to live to,and we must be grateful for that.
Treasure all your sweet memories of him, he sounded a right character.
RIP Storm, sleep well xx

29 is an excellent age for a TB and as always great to hear about horses who live out their long lives loved to bits. He sounded a right character, well able to keep you on your toes.

Thank you all for your kind messages of support and also passport advise too.... really is very much appreciated. I've had the tissues out again!

Today I had a call from the van-with-the-van who took Stormy away to tell me that his ashes will be at the vets for me to collect them..... I'm glad I know where they are now.

Question: Does anyone know how much roughly to expect to have a Sunday/emergency call out + sedation and then PTS - I haven't a clue - just waiting for the bill to arrive on the doorstep. Also what size box to expect Stormy's ashes to be in....... think I may need to take a holdall or something to carrier them in .... Many thanks again.
