My pony Tinker sadly passed away quietly at the weekend. She had reached the grand old age of 36 and had taught many a child how to sit a buck, drop the shoulder and spin move!
She was mine for 27 years, we rescued her when I was 10 from someone who beat her. Took us several years to gain her trust, and she became a super 'second' pony to me and her many loan owners over the years.
Her last and favourite ridden home was to the daughter of one of the staff at the Tickham hunt where she would go out on the lead rein and gallop and jump all day. She spent the last 10 years as a companion to my Cleaveland Bay and has had a happy retirement eating, sleeping and keeping him in line!
We found her collapsed in her field and unable to get up, she spent her last hour with her head in my lap while we waited for the vet to help her on her way.
RIP Tinker you will be missed by many.
