Sad to hear of the passing of Old Vic following a bout of colic at the age of 25. A prolific winner on the flat and even more prolific sire of jumpers. At least his genes will live on....

We have an Old Vic mare - Limelight. She won 2 hurdle races and was mostly always placed. She has bred 4 foals - one, Lenny the Blade (by Master Willie) ran a few times, won a hurdle at Newton Abbot and was in second place at Chepstow when sadly he fell, broke a bone and was PTS immediately.

As an admirer of Old Vic, at the 2010 Grand National I backed all of his offspring!

There were 4 in total as I remember, but something that was not maximised on in the press was that the FIRST, Don't Push It, and the SECOND, Black Apalachi
were BOTH by OLD VIC!!! So I cleaned up...... on my £5 E/W bets!!!:D:rolleyes:

But that must have been some sort of a record, and I could not understand at the time why it was not picked up on??? Maybe I missed something?

He was obviously a very good NH stallion and will be missed by many I am sure.

He should get credit where credit is due!!!:)
