How much difference is there between 1800D, 1200D and 600D??? Ive always just bought medium weight rugs which i think have been 600D, so is there much if any difference in them?

Yes huge difference in strength of the fabric. My horse can kill a 600d rug in a day but an 1800d has lasted the winter. They don't rip.

The denier defines the strength of the material - higher is stronger (but hence generally more heavy)
Ripstop is term used to indicate material construction whith occasional stronger area such that if material rips, there is a point of higher resistance to stop the material from splitting along it whole length ( like a bed sheet would for example)
