Would it be fair to liken young horses to young humans or is there no comparison?
Usually either I bring the horses in by myself or OH comes and helps. Last night the 11 year old I childmind for came down with me. I was to lead Blue in and she was leading Chad. Blue and Chad share a field.
Well, as soon as Blue saw Em he was a complete d*ck. He was chasing Chad off, squealing and kicking at him. We decided to bring Blue and Ellie (in next paddock) in instead so I got Blue out and he was still being an arse, running at the fence to get Chad away. Blue flicked his head, lead rein snatched out of my hands and he cantered off bucking. I got Ellie out and we walked up towards the stables. Blue was waiting about 10 yards away so I walked him in with Ellie just fine.
I could only liken Blue's behaviour to that of a giddy child when people turn up at the house and they get excited. Is this a fair comparison and will he grow out of it? He also does this if people walk past the field, he will chase Chad away so he can't get any attention. None of my horses get any treats whatsoever (I am v cruel!) so its not food related, he just has to be there and the centre of attention at all times.
He will grow out of it, won't he????
PS, I love him to bits, he is definately a character!
