risk of lami in yearlings?!

i know any horse can get lami.
after mum getting it im so paranoid about the yearling now!
am determined to slim storm or at least stop him getting fatter!

how likely is it yearlings get lami.shes in at night and out on good grass in the day.fed soaked hay and stud balancer.you can see her ribs a little as shes having a growth spurt!

in a yearling you should always be able to see ribs are an over weight yearling wil strain joints. the risk is that same iwth any horse and if your concerned, limit the grazing. If she is ribby and not on a high protein diet she should be ok.

limitting grass at this yard is a nightmare.they want everyone no matter how fat/think the horse is to be moved onto a totally fresh paddock every 7days!20/30 horses got lami last year.
am moving them at end of july when i move south for new job.
