Well after preparing to go to our first ever meet with the RMAS just before Xmas we eventually pulled out due to the heavy rainfall the night before (as my boy's a bit arthritic thought the soft going might prove a prob)

Anyway, we are hoping to attend this week's meet at Elvetham and I've just read on the RMAS homepage that the meet is more suited to confident riders and that there are some 'compulsory' timber fences en-route. My question is: looking at the pics from last year's meet at Elvetham will the jumps be the same? I don't think the 'compulsory' timber fences will be a prob (if they are the same as last time going across the road) but seeing the big hedges, can we get round them as I can pretty safely say that my 13.2hh will never get over them and I'm pretty sure I don't want to try!!!

:D

I've haven't been to Elvetham before and unfortunately can't go this time either but I was talking to someone about it last week (I thought I might be able to go). Apparently you can get around all the hedges easily and do watch out for them becuase they all have ditches both sides and one has a huge drop but you can get round them all. Enjoy, you'll love it!

according to the hunt it's really really wet there - will be worse than barossa was (the one you were going to come to) i was thinking of going but dont want to run my boy in the soggyness. the hedges are all optional and the timber isn't that big but it's the ground that put me off and it's torrential rain tonight and just wont drain from that ground by the weekend :( i'm off to dressage instead and will then do all the rest of the hunts till the end of the season - apparantly paley street, rowse farm and elstead are all fab meets.

Thanks for the info Star! Not entirely sure I'll make it anyway as horse seemed a bit under the weather when I last rode - poss a bit sore in hocks so will assess on Sat but by the sound of it after all this rain it wouldn't be a good one for our first!!

Unfortunately working all other dates except last!!!! I am determined to make it to Elstead!!!

elstead will be fab - it's the same ground as we covered at the puttenham meet the other week - amazing sandy ground and totally fabulous jumping. i dunno what i'm gonna do with myself when the season ends.

Hi huntsman out today checking the ground. I would aim for Elstead, but we are trying to get at option if it is too wet, which is a lovely farm meet which would be ideal for a newbie to drag hunting.

I'm going to do Plaley Street and Elstead, would do Manor Farm aswell but don't think I can get there. Sadly I can't do Wednesdays so Rowse Farm is out of the question. But will definitely be out for the last two! Did Paley Street last season and it was fab but extremely wet (we had to swim through two fords!! although my pony is only 14hh's)

Rowse Farm is on my birthday so I booked the day off work to go hunting - woohoo!

Should I pack my swimming cossie for Paley Street then given the rain recently? My pony's only 15hh!
