I went to view a little un today- and hes perfect- apart from maybe very slightly roach backed? Nothing obvious to be honest but as the back curves back up approx where the thoracolumbar muscle attatches to the pelvis the gradient is quite shallow- really hard to describe

but I thought it might possibly be a midly roach back. What problems might this cause him in future. He is a Appy x Traditional Cob- so has the colour of an Appy but the build of a cob. Will only be a happy hacker.

Im not 100% sure exactly where you mean as Im useless with back terminology but if you mean the bit sort of behind where the saddle would end and his hips then my horse was the same. I never really noticed it until someone mentioned it when he was a lean 4 yr old. Its only slight and as he muscled up isnt noticeable.

My daughter's 15.2hh WB/TB has a slight roach back, but she passed a five stage vetting last year and is competing at BE100 and BD Novice level and is off to the PC Nationals next week on the dressage team, so not all bad.

Its hard getting a saddle to fit. Her problem was that she has a massively powerful back end coupled with very slim shoulders so saddles were slipping forward, particularily her dressage saddle. We tried everything on her and even considered made to measure. We settled on a Bates Innova in the end as it was so secure. Pricey at £1400, but worth it.

I am no expert, but I wouldnt let it put me off a good horse. Good luck.
