can anyone tell me more about it or even know of any clear youtube clips that would 'show' it to me please?

i don't know what's going on with my pony at the moment but when asked to trot/canter either under saddle or on the lunge he makes a very strange noise. it's not heavy breathing so to speak but there's a definate noise there that i haven't heard before and i can't really describe it.
he does have a cough with dry hay or when first asked to work in a sand school but that does subside after a few coughs.

i'm going to be speaking to the vet tomorrow anyway and will obviously know more when he's seen my pony but thought i'd see what others say so that i know if there is a chance he's a roarer or not.

thankyou. :)

If your pony suffers from a dust allergy he is most likely to be making a noise when breathing due to mucus in his airways this can be helped with drugs such as ventipulmin, keeping him in a dust free environment, ideally out 24/7 , soaking hay or feeding haylage.

Roaring or whistling is caused by partial paralysis of the larynx which causes the noise when the horse breathes in, it can sound like a high whistle or deeper as a roar, this is more often heard at gallop although in bad cases at canter or trot.

Your vet will be able to examine your pony and give a diagnosis but it is unlikely to be roaring in the true sense.
