What was the bit Robert Whitaker had on his chestnut in the Derby? I couldn't make it out but it seemed to have a curb on it and what looked like double rein attachment.
I'm not being critical as I happen to have seen the horse up close in the collecting ring at HOYS and it is definately a handful. I remember Geoff Billington offering to ride the horse in to the ring when the prizes where being collected, just for the horse to have the experience. He got it going with a lot of energy, shall we say, then used language unpublishable on a public forum when he realised it was a bit 'fresh'!

By the way, the above is not meant as derogatory as GB got on a horse I would never have dreamt of sitting on and nursed it through the presentation for experience. And rode it bloomin' well if you ask me!

there was a thing in HH and the "what is that" section a while ago

If I remember correctly is was a german hackamore with a snaffle mouth peice, that was fashioned especially for this horse.

Ah, that would explain what looked like a curb part to it. I couldn't see very clearly coz of the weather, no close ups and the fact that I have yet to join the digital age and was watching a slightly fuzzy ariel picture!

All I could see was a lot of metal in the general mought/nose area.

it was either a hackamore with a snaffle or a combination bit !!!

ive seen that at hickstead when it took off with him round the warm up !!
