I have always always wanted an old style rocking horse, and so am now looking for recommendations on where to get one made.

I lost my beautiful boy earlier this week, and have decided that I'd like a rocking horse commissioned with his markings (Appaloosa) and using some of his tail hair.

I'm based in Leicestershire but more than happy to travel. Has anyone got any recommendations?

One of my work colleagues does up vintage rocking horses and sells them on, she paints them and uses real hair for mane and tails. I just tried to look for her ebay shop to give you an idea of what she does but if you can't find anything better/more local to you (i'm in London) i can always find out and put you in touch?

I looked for years before finding one for my daughter.
This guy seemed to be the only one who made hooves horse shaped, not flat if that makes sense!
He Will paint in any colour. Ours is now 15 years old.

I can highly recommend holmebank rocking horses. If you look at their web site under sold horses you will see the palomino they did for me with rhythms markings. The head is so detailed and he is a real equine artist. I just have to lose a few stone so I can sit on her! They will work from photos and courier it to you. I don't know how to post photos but if you look on their Facebook pages you can see all stages of her production. She is made out of solid ash. Beware of restored haddon horses as although lovely they are fibreglass.

Same here always wanted a old style rocking horse

So sorry you lost your boy, we lost a livery a week ago out the blue. What a lovely tribute to your horse I hope you find someone
