Took Alfie to Rodbaston on Saturday. Got there nice and early, walked the course which seemed fine, warm up was rather hair raising as it isn't the biggest and some people really can't ride in them! Jumped a foot perfect round until the last fence, a set of planks (my nemesis), rode like a complete idiot and had that down! So decided to brave the Discovery, wasn't expecting much as he is only 4. Jumped a lovely double clear round and finished 6th! We did go into the lead to start with, 7th to go out of 40 odd! The joys of having a horse with a huge stride! Was rather annoyed though the person who won, the clock didn't start until she landed over the 2nd fence. I did tell the judge, but he said i must be mistaken! Surely he should have noticed that someone who had taken over 4 seconds off the leader, who was going slowly, and all the others who were in the line up were within a couple of seconds of each other! Made no difference to me, but i would have been mightily annoyed had i been in 1st or 2nd. So finished 6th, our first Discovery and a double clear, not bad is it! Alfie is now having a well deserved break for a week or so.
