I'm sure no one really cares, but I'm just so pleased with her!
Someone else has decided they like Ned, so again, I was put on another horse. He's losing his 'Nutty Ned' title! He's a darling plod (kinda) out on hacks, they should try and jump him! :P
Anyway, that's just me getting jealous XD

I rode a lovely Haffie mare called Sandy today. Although she's strong, she's not mean and I don't feel like she'll tank off with me. She was so sweet and she's pretty quick too! Had a lovely gallop up the hill and she was brilliant! Having a nice long mane to hold on to is also a bonus, Ned's tufts could hardly be called a mane :P

Here's the pretty lass..

Another reason I posted...who has haffies and would you recommend?
ETA: It occoured to me she's a typical chav :P Bleach blonde hair, orange skin (fur), had a kid at a young age and no one knows who the father is!! (She arrived at the yard newly pregnant, it was a shock to see an extra face one day!)

What a lovely girl! There was a thread on here recently called "Why do people hate halflingers?" or soemthing like that. Quite a few haffie owners contributed to it, have a search. I have had no experience of them but if you are used to strong willed, pig headed, bargy-if-given-enough-of-an-excuse natives and you think they are adorable as a result, you should get on with a haffie. :D I can't talk as I have a Highland and people say all the above about them! Wouldn't have anything but a chunky, hairy native though.

Here she is with her baby, at one day, then at one (and a bit) year :)

EDIT: indiat: Sandy's lovely ^^ she's not bargy at all and has such a lovely, motherly nature ^^ I'd love something like her.

I would def recommend a Haffie for an adult who is prepared to be firm but fair and consistent in their treatment, as they are very clever greedy coblets who will twist you round their little finger otherwise.

Not so much for children/total novices as they tend to get an evil gleam in their eye when they spy fresh meat :-))) at least mine does!

Live on fresh air so nice and cheap to keep, mine has no shoes, synthetic tack and no hard feed, just grass hay/straw mix plus vit/min supp.

The only time I would say they arent ideal is if you do a lot of jumping and like to have....well...anything in front of you. Being very enthusiastic and with a pony neck/head, theres just fresh air in front, no mane/neck to stop you shooting out of the plate as they take an enormous leap at a tiny jump!

I love my girl...horse of a lifetime...

Too cute! I have a haffy and a haffy cross arab, they are fab, good doers, and like mountain goats up these hills. I would recommend to anyone. The can be very stubborn though :D I also have a trotter, an ex-racer AND a foal! (I read somewhere that you like all those too :p)

Not sure if you can see the pic but this is my haffy Wilma out with a guest http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...50744233.69798.100000619918344&type=3&theater

Love Holkham, it's my local beach so have many fond memories there...

(me, about 9 years ago...! Little sister is on the bay pony.)

Love beach riding especially in the winter- we go down very very early (just getting light as we arrive) and have an amazing time.

lachlanandmarcus: Sandy's owned and ridden by a tiny little 12yr old XD she looks more like 8! I'm jealous of how brave that kid is, she'll jump anything and Sandy will take her over! https://picasaweb.google.com/100854110693431482772/Ride4Cancer#5604819365682599346

Rhino: Thanks :D Will take a look!

Scrooge: No way!! You have everything I want! I'm rather partial to Arabs too! What a gorgeous horse ^^ Lovely photo!!

Team Barney: She is ^^ I didn't think that little chap would get quite so...handsome!

Lolo: Great photos! I wish I could go more often, but living in Bucks...not easy :P

Advantages of living in deepest, darkest Norfolk are the amazing beach rides you can go on. It makes up for the fact that aside from 2 BE events. everything over 1.05m eventing wise is well over 3 hours away!

I have a haffie. I started a thread in pictures about the breed.

I have mixed experiences of them TBH. I worked for a dealer who imported a lot of the ride and drive ones from the continent. A lot of them were very bargy and strong to handle. One or two were simply uncontrolable to lead (and we were used to 'difficult' horses).

To ride they could be a mixed bag, on the one hand they were very sane and totally unfazed by stuff... on the other hand A LOT of them had evil bucks which they would chuck in just for the laugh of it. One in particular we had on the RS for a while and I swear he would be troting round sweet as a daisy, then give me (the instructor) the eviliest grin, walk into the middle of the arena and dump his rider straight over his head. He was a menace. He was also a total comedian and would do things like grabbing coats off the side of the school in the middle of a lesson and trot round with them in his mouth. With a decent rider on board he was fantastically well schooled, loved to work and would seek out an outline. But lose concentration for a moment and he'd put you over his head.

I was not a fan of the breed at all after working with these imports until I met mine. He is not stereotypical for the breed being very sensitive and quite nervy. He's also sharp and can be spooky. He is the most amazing pony to ride once you have his trust though, he clears 4' (he's only 14hh), works in a consistent outline in all paces, knows all his lateral work etc and is a dream to hack - other than the occasional spookiness. I absolutely adore him, he was bought as a project but I'll never sell him now. He is also absolutely gorgeous and definiately shows the 'arab' influence in the breed. Costs nothing to keep, is barefoot, never sick or sorry, lives on 2 blades of straw a year and he loves to work. He is my perfect pony. I would definiately consider another haffie if I could find one of his stamp. They are not for the novice or first time owner though as they can be really really smart and learn to take the piss. Once they realise they are stronger than you, they are devils!

It occoured to me she's a typical chav :P Bleach blonde hair, orange skin (fur), had a kid at a young age and no one knows who the father is!! (She arrived at the yard newly pregnant, it was a shock to see an extra face one day!)

This made me laugh!

She's very pretty... Very envious of both the horse and the beach!

She is lovely, but then I have a soft spot for Hafligners being an owner of one. They are def lovely fun rides, but they are very strong. My boy I could let anyone handle him, but to ride you have to be very confident & strong as he not the easiest of rides at times. Nice thing is they live on fresh air, if you have the confidence then yes I would recommend :D
