Sooo due to snow and ice, the TB has not been out of his box (apart from to go on the walker) in nearly a week

which I hate, but there you go.
I was planning to take him for a walk (see previous post

) but when I got to the yard, found someone helpful with a large dressage horse had ploughed a path around the edge of the arena, so it was rideable *yay*
I did want to let him loose in the arena and let him hooley around for a bit before getting on, but there were still patches of ice near the middle (I went and walked round first so i knew exactly where they were!) and reeeally didn't want to risk it

So i crossed my fingers and toes, plonked an exercise sheet on and headed out.... gave him a walk round and a little lunge for a while first, then got on...Now the TB lingers on the edge of sanity at the best of times, and being inside for a week had kinda pushed him over the edge..! Long story short, he had a couple of bucking fits throughout the ride, and the third one had me off

luckily a fairly soft landing.. Then had to sprint to catch him before he went galloping round, which was what I had been trying to avoid all along! Luckily he stopped by the gate and looked at me in a 'what are you doing on the floor you fool' kinda way. Got back on and had another go, and he seemed to have bucked himself out and stretched his legs sufficiently as he was fine.
However I fell over on the ice on Tuesday

and hurt my leg..after I fell off today, the bruise has spread all down my leg, and my knee is the size of a small melon

The angelic thing himself, looking mulelike and grumpy:

we have the same to deal with tomorrow (well fingers crossed!) we are hoping the yard has thawed out enough that we can actually take the hroses out of the yard, though think this is going to be a little bit hairy to say the least...!
