After my fall on Tuesday (Turned out to just be bruised!), i got back on the pony today. Mum had lunged her for me before I had got home from school, and my sister had taken her mare out for a hack.

Got on her and walked her round the little field to start with, just to make sure she wasnt too fresh before taking her in the big field- I needn't of worried, she was great, did some really lovely work and some beautiful walk-trot/ trot-walk transistions. did some pole work which she did nice and straight for a change! And she felt more like a 5 year old today, rather than a 3 year old!

So we took her in the big field where she bronced with me, and she was good as gold. I started asking for more of an outline in trot, and she went really nicely! Then I had my first canter on her

I cantered her in a straight line up a hill, she was lovely, had a very long stride.

Brought her back in and jumped her again, and she was amazing, last time we jumped her she ducked out a few times, but she jumped it first time today without a worry! Although it was only about 1"6ft, it is still a big acheivement!

Will get some photos taken over half term, as we are going clean her up and rug her up- she looks really rough at the moment!

Glad she went well but I have to say that WOW, that is one hell of a lot to ask a 3 year old to do in one session

IMHO you should have stopped after the canter and I would not be wanting to ask too much full stop. Not having a go, but little by little, making each schooling session clear and concise can make all the difference - you don't want to blast her head with too much info or she will rebel.

Weezy she is a 5 yr old - she is just very behind in her education is what MLT is referring to!

Glad you aren't too sore and she was a good pony x

sorry i didnt phrase it very well, i mean she is 5, but acts like a 3 year old because she has been shoved in a field doing nothing for the last 6 months. She has, apparently, jumped with her last owners, just hasn't done it for a long time, so she has the knowledge, just needs to remember it all!

Ahhh I see - I took *And she felt more like a 5 year old today, rather than a 3 year old!* as meaning she was 3. However, I prob still would have stopped after the canter if she is that behind in her education but I will butt out now and I don't mean any offence.
