congratulations Meridith and the immortal shutterfly... they won all three days!! Safire second oki doki third. Ben Maher Robin Hood 7th.
Ben was unlucky to have the first fence in first round of the final day, but then came back to jump a foot perfect clear! Michael retired in final round. The fences were monsters!
Considering Ben has owned Robin less than a year, it was an outstanding result and a pleasure to watch!

hi tammy, yes it was a good result all round. we were watcing ben on video in the press office in birmingham. and he jumped fab.
as for shutterfly, immortal is a good word. Also peerless anf unmatchable.

Ben is technically and mentally the best rider I have seen and if he was in Germany he would be rated as a superstar, especially considering his age. Lets not take this for granted, this was an outstanding result, especially considering where he was two years ago when he felt like chucking it in. The shame of it is, like Michael, they have to compete so much of the time abroad so people rarely see them to appreciate them.

Also Emma and Mike need a huge congratulation for the support and effort that they have given to Ben.

Congratulations all round.

indeed and all the troubles he has had in that period and he has managed to rise above it and keep his focus.
and you are right about competing abroad but it is all about rankings in showjumping and while they continue to be all about prize money as oppose to level of contests won (like eventing) or standard of excellence (dressage-percentage=points) then showjump riders have to go where the money is, they have no choice because if they are not ranked they will not be invited to the bes shows and if they dont go to the best shows they cant win the prize money to be ranked......
