Rolf - channel 5 ..NOW!

Anyone know when it will be on the channel 5 website? I wanna watch it later, I forgot it was on, and dont want to start watching it half way through! :o

Brill programme tonight. Knew a couple of people on tonight so particularly sad

The vet student that's horse had the dodgy tendon saw my puppy and said her horse was lame but didn't let on it was that bad! And on tele! Glad it recovers tho

Aw the poor foal. That made me sad- although good to see they don't only show the successful Colic ops- i was thinking previously its going to make more people do the op as good outcomes.

Luckily we'd finished eating when the bull was on! I have a strong stomach but not sure I could have dealt with that if I was actually there! It was incredible though, I had to do something similar with an infected abscess on my cat but nothing to that scale!

The colic surgery was amazing to see too, but so sad the mare didn't make it. But it does make you realise it isn't a wonder cure.

I was uncomfortable with the little dog undergoing radiotherapy, it seemed a lot to put him through each week just to extend his life by a few extra weeks or months. If there was a chance of a cure then maybe but it felt like it was being done for the owner and not in the best interests of the dog.

I thought the radiotherapy was wrong. Like you said, if it could cure him then fine but just for a few months...... "Just because we can, doesn't mean we should."

Obv that is with logical outside the situation brain on.

I let my five year old watch the first half an hour...I know it is on a little late but we were waiting for hubby to get home to say goodnight. She loves anything to do with animals and says that she likes knowing how we all work?! She thought the pus was "brilliant" although she wanted to know why the bull climbs on the cows  I explained something about cuddles and by then another question had popped into her overly curious little mind. I said I would let her watch the rest online tonight before bed time (usually 7pm-I do try to be good mummy on school nights!)

I had mixed feelings about the little dog having radiotherapy. I was moved by the love the man had for his tiny dog, but also wondered was this best for the dog? Hard to know how much the little thing was suffering.

Years ago, when my daughter Sonia was a teenager, our dog Dusty got cancer in her nose. The only sign of this was a whistling noise in her breathing, I took her to the vet as I thought she had something stuck up her nose, his diagnosis was a shock. :( Sonia and I made a decision that Dusty would have drugs to ease the symptoms but as soon as we saw evidence of suffering she'd be pts.

One day we saw her lying on her bed with her front paws jammed on her face, rubbing and obviously distressed. The very next day she had a long run in the park with her friend, some special treats and was pts at home snoozing in front of the fire.

It was awful for us, but I still think it was best for Dusty.

I too felt the dog having treatment was for the owner not the dog.
If it was a cure then i too would do the same, but to put the dog under anesthetic every week for only 6 months at most seemed unnecessary to me.
A bit like putting overweight animals under for a scan to say they are fat- surely the risks out way benefit- a tape measure is accurate enough i feel!
