What cameras do you use for foal cams, and how does your system work? Pros and cons? Oh, and how much did they cost you?

Next year, probably getting three cameras at the yard, one for foaling stall, one for whole yard, and one for menage

Probably put it online for you all, but here's hoping

Mare at yard has just started dripping milk tonight, 15 days overdue, possibly 18! So staying over in the hut and hopefully will see her foal

Ours is a proper security system so cost a lot more than a bog standard webcam set up. Cameras are all infra red with a very good zoom and wide angle facilities. We also have a changer where we can put theoretically 9 foal cams on one screen - but that is for security purposes so I can see all the cameras on the farm at once. But it will also come in useful next week when we have 3 mares due so I can have either 3 mares on screen at once, or it sitching between each mare every 30 seconds or whatever!!

To set up what we have purely for online camera viewing would be ridiculous as it cost in the regeion of £1k - but we already had it set up for security so to get it online cost around £100

Google ICatcher - they sell cameras which are pretty reasonable and also are very helpful at getting it all set up.

I use myhorsecam.com to host the web stream now which again is a very helpful company.
