Pros and Cons of both please
They both feel very nice but ideally want the best quality as they tend to last the longest

Suggestions please!

I've got the Roma Merino ones and I like them as they wash well and are not too thick so they don't alter the fit of your saddle too much.
I have had the Stephens ones and find them too thick. Don't know about the Lemieux ones

Thanks Hollyf!
Im really looking for one as a hunting numnah
I really like my Nuumed half pad but they arent all that soft (perhaps im being daft but if I had to carry me about all day Id want the softest most breathable thing poss!) So Sheepskin is the only way to go methinks!

I have a Roma one and a Nuumed. TBH the sheepskin on the Roma one has washed up surprisingly well for the price. I am quite impressed. However I would say the Nuumed one is denser and springier, so maybe it's worth spending a bit more for a whole days hunting.

Lemieux ones are beautiful I ahve one of the adjustable ones,a nd am going to get a "normal" one for everyday use. Really love it, gorgeous quality, and just thick enough without being chunky. Really really recommend

Have recently bought a Roma and although feels lovely, finding it a bit bulky. Haven't washed it yet so can't comment on that. I have a Nuumed for our other hunter and used it weekly for the last 2 seasons and swear by it - washes well too so worth every penny.

Having spent most of a cold winter's day with my hands buried inside various sheepskin and lambskin numnahs at my local tack shop (I worked there and was bored and cold!) I decided that NuuMed just didn't cut it. It was abraisive after a while on my hands, and while I appreciate that my hands and a horse's back aren't the same I'd still rather buy a Mattes, LeMieux or Roma numnah over a NuuMed.
I have a Roma seat saver which takes quite a bit of abuse and it is wearing really, really well!

Just to chuck another brand into the mix the Cottage Craft sheepskin range is very good, currently using their saddle cloths every day, they wash well and the sheepskin is not so thick that it alters the fit of the saddle.

Currently about £30 on Old Dairy Saddlery!

We've got the adjustable Lemieux one too and like you would 100% recommend them. Superb quality, come up like new after each wash and are not too thick but thick enough.

I'd go for Lemieux over Roma, but just to add another one to the mix, I have just discovered Kentaur products, and they are, IMO, the nicest I have come across. Just bought a cream sheepskin riser, and it is truly to die for! Google them and have a look at their range

Lemieux it is - saw them at Badminton and decided there and then that was almost too nice for a horse and would quite like one to snuggle into on the sofa!
I have ordered the one in Taupe and Brown - really looking forward to its arrival!!!
Ive gone for the Medium but im now worried cause of couse sheeps shrink ever so slightly - my saddle is a 17 in and not a bulky sort - will see when it arrives - can always change it over!

Have you tried putting a sheep in the washer then? I find it hellishly difficult to get them in as they tend to be slightly too large before shearing...

LOL Train Robber! Ours has never shrunk in the wash - the sheepskin numnah that is, haven't got a sheep... We use a special liquid to wash that and other sheepskin stuff, think it is called C6 or something like that. We got it from Horse Dream who make sheepskin bareback pads, girths etc.

You won't be disappointed when your numnah arrives I'm sure.

And another brand.... and an expensive one at that.....

Mattes, in my opinion are the best you can get!
They are the only brand the saddler I used to use (Nathaniel Underwood) would recommend.
I have had a few full numnahs they are probably about 5 or 6 years old and apart from the colour fading they wash up like new every time. I also have a half pad which I've never washed and used about 10 times so far and it still looks almost unused!!
There are different thickneses, bronze, silver, gold and platinum (I think)
I bought a bartle half pad and was really disapointed in comparison with the mattes one as it is so flat!
