I'm not sure what other single ladies/men think in the equine world but I seem to find it near impossible to find romance and still do horses well. Ive been flirting with the idea of looking within the horsey circle?! and on the subject of flirting Ive been doing some with the farrier....but i'm starting to think if things got awkward would i have to change farriers????

Thoughts please..I am a tad confused!

well firstly farriers are all complete flirts!! they are surrounded by women in tight jodphurs all day lol, so take any flirting with a pinch of salt :p

also, do you want someone who is into horses already, or just someone who wouldnt mind you having the commitment of one?

I know many friends who have converted non horsey men into competant grooms/yard handy men lol!
But the very worst type are the ones that cant be converted, hate the smell/dirt/hay in the car etc....steer clear!;)

I find it quite hard to balance home life and horse life. I think I'm quite lucky that I met a lovely bloke who admitted last week I'm turning him into a 'horsey person' (thats taken 10months!). But that was after two years of singletoness, I never went anywhere bar my work, stables then home, makes for meeting potential new blokes pretty tricky!
Only advice I can offer is stick in there, chat to everyone and hopefully the right person will crop up when you least expect it.

I've kept my horse at army stables in the past and although the stable managers weren't exactly eye candy, they all appear to have had affairs with either the grooms or the liveries (all married!). Stables seem to be a hot bed for illicit liasons!

LOL Starzaan!
Naahh i dont think youd have to change farrier, just take it all in your stride!
I had a err... 'liason' with my farrier and i still use him, we've just not spoken about it since :P

I looked for horsey romance but found we never really saw each other...horses kept at different yards. Met a cycling man who hated horses but thanks to my lovely horsey he is now converted and very useful addition to the yard...good for lifting heavy objects etc!! Also he is now willing to bring in/groom etc still not got him riding tho! all he asks for is that i shower before going out

Thanks for all the comments....my farrier is insanely hot, but is a bit of an arrogant t***! I was in YF when I was younger but found alot of people my age moved away through Uni and work. I also worked at a military yard but unfortunately never met any nice officers that appreciated a horsey woman. Ive dabbled with kissinggates.com but not had much success. Maybe I'm just too picky.

muddymatches.co.uk!!!

I met my chap on there. Not horsey, but a country bumkin like me!!! He is happy to walk the dogs whilst i ride and providing i show willing and go shooting a couple of times in the season, he is happy to assit me at shows and putting jumps up ect!

There are certainly lots of liasons in the equine world, but not many that are that romantic ;) :p

Seriously, farriers have got a reputation, and generally it's deserving...but there is the occasional one who would break the trend! There are only a couple of farriers locally that have "that" reputation..... I think trainee farriers are the way to go as least they move away when they're qualified ( ;) ) and technically it's not them that shoes your horse :p

Young farmers also sounds a good plan, as I reckon finding a man to convert to horseyness is the way forward ;) I am dating a horsey man for the first time, and it is great, but you can have different opinions on things... :p I've had non horsey ex's who have been easily converted once they realise that there are lots of women wandering around in tight breeches at competitions etc :p

Thanks katiejam, I might check that one out! I think BE should open up their own dating site....find a husband/owner! that would be perfect. :p

Toast... how did you do it?!?!?

Well when a man and a women love each other very much .... ;)

I'd say muddymatches or similar. For me I want a guy whose not horsey!! Horses are my selfish time, and my hobby. They need to understand and accept I will be forever with the horses, and maybe be handy will a drill ... but I really don't want them interfereing on "me time"

It can work! My OH used to ride and hunt (was a hunt master many moons ago) but isn't into riding any more, though v knowledgable so helps me the whole time (adores my TB), whether it's buying a horse or their care and management etc. He's great back up if I'm ill or just need a hand. Best of all he comes out on his bike with me and dog in tow and we go everywhere, up into the hills, we take a picnic and make a day of it! :)
