.....rather than a day hunting!
When getting Ron ready for hunting this morning, I, as usual, started brushing at the top, and did his legs last. Last leg I did was his front right, which was about half the size again that it usually is. Didn't like the look of this, but was aware that he'd been in longer than normal yesterday.
Decided to trot him up in hand, but couldn't really see whilst leading him, so got mum out to look. Sure enough he was a fraction, and only a fraction lame. More so going down the slight slope of the driveway than up it.
Cue cold hosing, stable bandages, more cold hosing etc instead of a days hunting.
verdict? most likely tweaked something while larking about in the field. swelling is not tender to touch, or even when applying pressure, so am certain its not tendon, though I suppose it might be bursal strain (windgall type thing). Will give it a day or two of cold hosing, box rest etc and see how he's doing.
Mean while, I washed and scrubbed my sisters horse as he was soooo greasy after a winter under rugs, and it was such a lovely warm day I couldn't waste the opportunity!
As a reward for reading, please enjoy these (slightly iffy) mobile pics from today! How are they looking? Ron is hunting fit (or was) and Tom is hacked out about once or twice a week. Both are 17 this year. Both are about 16.2.
