Just a quickie in case anyone was interested. Ronnie has his PSD op at Cambridge in Tuesday which went smoothly, no complications. I think that is the only time the words "Ronnie" and "no complications" will be used in the same sentence, so savour and enjoy!

I really hope this is us putting the injuries etc behind us and starting afresh, as it's been a tough 15 months

He's having bandages changed today and Saturday and will hopefully come home Saturday night, for a couple of weeks of box rest, then starting walking out. I took a pic of him when we arrived at Cambridge on Sunday - he does love paper!

Great glad it went well, Scout has just been diagnosed with PSD just about to post for advice, Waiting to see if the vets will operate or box rest at the moment.

I hope everything continues to improve for you

Was waiting for this post!

He looks sooo happy rolling! glad everything went well and hope the recovery goes well too!

Yay!! Was going to PM you today to find out how it went.

Here's hoping it's onwards and upwards for the both of you now

Woo hoo... glad he is back on his feet and doing well!

I promise, you will hardly see the scars when they change the bandages. I was expecting to see 'something' but it was absolutely minute

You're so right Rebecca. Someone commented this morning on the fact there's no hige scar on Josie's leg

Hello! It turns out he's being a complete nightmare. Threw himself about for the first 2 days post op, undid his bandages, had to be "heavily sedated" for them to change bandages - some bedding had got into the wound. They did another bandage change today but the right leg is oozing, plus it sounds like they can't do tight bandages like normal as he's not tolerating them, so the cosmetic outcome won't be so good

But he's not a show pony so I don't really care - I just want him to get better. He's got to stay there until Tuesday instead of coming home today/tomorrow. They're going to put him on antibiotics and keep a close eye on him.

He really doesn't help himself.

Hello not sure if this was meant for me or not. I went straight for surgery as he's been on box rest with a sacroiliac injury for nearly 7 months now and this PSD has occurred during that period, and we have to really blitz the PSD to try to prevent the SI getting worse. Plus he really doesn't tolerate anything like that and I'm not sure they could actually sedate him enough to do shock wave (I'm not joking).

Oh no. Baaaaad Ronnie!

I hope it's only a minor hiccup and he's soon back with you allowing you to finally put the last 15 months behind.

Nothing ends up straightforward for me either!

That's because the law of sod is always in operation when there are horses about.

We love them really

Well I did say it's the only time "Ronnie" and "no complications" would be uttered in the same sentence

Bless his cottons I can imagine the hell he's been giving them. Bet Vicky's loving the peace and quiet without him about

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!! Take lots of pictures - I'd love to see her all done up and looking grown up.

Ronnie just loves paper, he goes round and round heaping it up into a big mountain, then hurls himself onto the top of it and has a good wriggle, and makes lots of groans. Did your pony learnt to love it too?

Does everyone run and hide when he arrives at the vets?
grin.gif
I bet vicky's enjoying the break too!

I'm so used to seeing Ronnie in his box, everytime time he goes away the barn always feels empty

Ta, I'm about to go a-bathing and a-trimming. I just hope she travels alright, I've got visions of a sweat soaked lathered pony coming off at the other end! There will be lots of pics

I certainly always get comments along the lines of "oh HE's back is he?!" and "He's such a character" (read...nightmare!). It's horrid for being down at the stables without him there too. Have to keep telling myself he'll be home soon.

I'm sure she'll travel ok once she gets going. If you take water, sponge and a couple of towels with you and have to dampen a towel and rub off any sweat it shouldn't do too much harm, as long as she can stay warm and dry after
smile.gif
Although it might make her a bit less glossy than she currently is! She'll be too tired to travel badly on the way home - as I'm sure you know, she always sleeps when she comes in from the field so she may be needing a nap tomorrow - preferably not during a class! She seems a sleepy little thing, bless her. Good luck, and I hope the day goes really well. Can't wait to see the photos!

xx

Ronaldo; My pony was a complet nightmare too! He was in for 6 days, and I'm sure they were glad to see the back of him! He loved the paper bed, he obviously lay down quite a lot, it does look very inviting!
