I was looking through the tack section in one of my books, and noticed the rope cavesson.
I've never actually seen one in use. Does anybody use one?
Do they have a specific purpose?
Sorry, this seems a bit random but I'm curious lol
edit: it was an English noseband, not a western one

They are narrower than a normal leather cavesson, and also less 'soft' than leather is which has a natural give to it. They are often used alongside a standing martingale in polo, as when the ponies' heads come up, the pull on their noses will be more severe than if they had normal flat nosebands. Used on their own they are a less bulky deterent at mouth opening than a flash etc, as the rope will exert more pressure in a concentrated space. Lol i sound like a book. Im looking for a nicely made one, mainly because I think beasty would prefer it to a flash, and be better behaved than a cavesson. Its fashionable for SJers to use...

ahh thanks!

That all certainly makes sense.
