rope halter and how not to do it.

that's left me feeling so angry. i've heard about this but not seen it before.

that horse was chilled out, calm and relaxed until she started to 'work' with it. if i was the horses owner then i would have knocked her out the first time she smacked my horse.

can't believe people would pay to have their horses treated like that.
 
I cannot believe the people there would give the leadrope to her after they'd seen what she did. The horse owner handed it over twice and the bloke behind with the other horse. What idiots. She'd get a piece of my mind but not my leadrope. Shame the horse didn't boot her back.
 
What the hell does she think she is doing? The horse was standing quietly until she started yanking at the rope. If I were the owner I'd strangle her with it. :mad:
 
What the hell?! I don't know what to say, except that its her who deserves a good kicking not the poor horse.

What is she trying to achieve? Is it a lesson on how to deliberately upset your horse and then drag it and kick it around in circles when it unsurprisingly doesn't want you to touch it?!

It's worrying that she seems to be actually teaching people to do this. Not nice.
 
I'm confused. Most trainers like that I can't stand but at least can see what they were trying to beat the horse into doing. This I'm confused. Is she trying to make it stand, back up, lunge? Let's slap its face, then stroke it, then kick it. Poor poor horse if I didn't have a clue what she was asking how on earth could the horse. I can honestly say one of mine would have legged it or ended up on the ground in fear and the other would have attacked her... If I didn't reach the woman first.

On an aside, the first horse in the shot is stunning.
 
seriously sad. I've had over 12 years out of horses and came back with something maybe a bit too much for me now, 18 months on I wouldn't part with him, different story a year ago, and hopefully riding this year :), I do use a dually but got an IH lady out to work with us, not just scare the poor thing :(
 
Am I right in that she's demonstrating to the people in the arena?

Who on earth would want to watch that? Or further still, permit their horse to be handled like that. The woman needs to learn some self control, grow up and curb her temper. Kicking a horse in the belly like that and in public? Who does she think she is. And God knows what she'd be like with a horse in private. The mind boggles. Who are these people watching her and taking there horses to be handled by her??
 
I actually had to stop watching - couldn't stand any more, it was making me so angry. If I had been the owner, I' d have found a more appropriate use for her rope! I work my horses in a rope halter and line, but the difference in how I'd do it is night and day. Her instructions and intentions were unclear, harsh, unnecessary, and downright unreasonable. Terrifying that she appeared to be teaching/demonstrating. The only thing she demonstrated in the bit I watched, before I turned off in disgust, was how to abuse a horse and make it headshy.
 
I had to stop watching before 2mins, but how the hell is that supposed to be training a horse??? It was stood perfectly quietly until she started messing with it!!! And why doesn't the owner/handler stop her? I'd NEVER let someone do that to one of mine! Absolutely ridiculous! :eek: :mad:
