I've got a parelli one and others that I ordered from xoaam.com. The parelli one is a bit stiffer but otherwise they are the same. Much cheaper from xoaam too

Which pic were you looking at, they all looked fine.

Savanah braided rope halter. It has a big noseband, like most Parelli halters. Put a clip rope on that and it's going to swing about all over the place. Also too much movement in the halter itself. I know we're always looking at photos of halters that have big nosebands hanging down, but they're not well fitting for groundwork or riding.

Edited to add - I think it's a bit low on the nose as well.

Scroll down here for a photo of a well fitting rope halter. http://www.freewebs.com/lodgeropes/ropehalters.htm

If you put the two photos side by side you can see the difference clearly and I think you can imagine how different they would be for the horse.

That was the one I thought you were referring to. The Lodge rope halters are good. I have several here in NZ.

I have a made to measure riding halter from Rob at Lodge Ropes that he kindly made me as a gift. It's lovely. Black, red, tassles... !

Yes...but... the rope halters they sell in my local farm store have horrible proportions and have long bits of rope hanging off the end that you tie, finished off with pressed metal!
Unless you mean the white rope halters that have a leadrope through a loop on the side of the nose that are used in some showing?

I agree- don't buy the cheap ones! They don't fit the same and won't get you the same result. I DO rate the parelli ones best of all, but the lodge rope ones are good too.

Yes,...i use one of the white rope halters for turning out/bringing in, rather than my traditional headcollar. Simple and quick to use popping on and off and for leaving up at the field gate ready for my horse to be brought in of a morning. Got it from an agricultural store that they use for cattle! It will last for years as it's made of quite a substantial rope and not as thin as the showing ones. It means i can save my padded traditional headcollar for travelling and keep it nice. :).
