RoR classes?

Hi all, so i have a lovely ex-racehorse, and i would love to show him but he has some lumps and bumps and a few scars and i was wondering if they look at those as it is so common for ex-racers to have superficial injurys would they put them down for that?
also at burghley this year i saw one lady riding a lovely boy but with a wintec i assume its less about the turnout and more about the actual horse and how it has changed, as i have a monoflap and i just wanted to know if they didn't like that sort of thing?

Well, Reg got bumped from 2nd initially (1st with the ride judge) to 6th due to a curb.

But his scars and things didn't really cause an issue. He has a massive one along his flank, a hole in his hoof, he has permanently got some form of thing going on somewhere... But he came 6th despite a curb in a big class at the Norfolk Show despite all this. Next year they're hoping to do a fair bit more so we'll report back

Al has a straight cut showing saddle we got off eBay for pennies. But that's so it shows off his shoulders a bit more- his jumping saddle would do, but it's not quite so good for showing him off to his best.

In proper ROR Classes yes scars, lumps and bumps do come into it. First and foremost the judges look for well mannered, well schooled horses that have adapted to their new life. Then they look at conformation. Then they look at blemishes. Then they look at tack.

A very well behaved horse with blemishes can beat a conformationaly perfect horse that didn't go as well or behave as well. Head out, test the water. As with any showing it's subjective and some judges will forgive some things and others other things. You will just have to create a little book of who does and who doesn't like your horse.
