ROR Handy Hunter Class

I have just read about this in this weeks H&H and have to admit I am really excited about it. I am picking up an ex-racehorse on Saturday who is coming to replace my mare and will hopefully do lots of hunting this winter. I was thinking about doing ROR classes next summer but these sound much more fun.

I have always wondered why they don't have these for other hunter classes as well, I mean hunters have to do far more than just jump big fences and it would allow for more people a chance to shine in the show ring. Anyone else going to have go?

According to the article in Horse & Hound you will need a card signed by your hunt to say you have hunted at least 6 times over the winter and then the class itself will consist of a gate to open, jumps and a bridge to walk across. I think they are planning to have a series of qualifiers over the summer with a championship somewhere at the end.
