I entered my horse, we didn’t get through to the short list BUT I’ve just had an email saying we’ve been ‘commended’.

I just wondered, have these been sent though to everyone?

I’m having a terrible day at work and it’s half brightened up my day if so, I love my little ex-racer so much and I’m so proud of him so I was gutted not to get on the short list.

I have to say all the short list are very deserving and some of the stories have had me in tears, just shows how versatile ex-racers are and how much adversity so many of them have to over come!

That's lovely for you to at least get recognition for your entry. I too felt quite emotional when reading through some of the entries, there really are some amazing horse's and their owners deserve real credit. Particularly those that have battled back from horrendous injury!
I would have liked to enter my horse and was a little upset to find that he isn't eligable(sp)Even though he is Irish bred and was owned by a british owner and trained by a british trainer he doesn't qualify because he raced in France and dubai. Seemed a little unfair to me but there you go. :-(

Oh no :( I didn't realise they'd had to have only raced in the UK, doesn't seem fair!

The horse with the shattered pelvis that broke the skin, that had me in floods of tears, imagine coming in and finding that in the morning, doesn't bear thinking about!

At least they've thanked us for entering, which is nice :)

It says in the email, that they "will be selecting a number of commended entries to feature on the RoR website. The panel felt this would be a great opportunity for horse fans, owners and riders to enjoy your story too."

My sister entered, and has miraculously been shortlisted in the "Healthy Heart" category. Her horse has only been out of racing for 18 months, so for them to think he's already a contender to be the best all-round ex-racer is the biggest compliment ever.

That's him- it's funny how much he's grown up and also how much my sister has! In the first photo she's only just turned 16 and looks quite young- can't believe she took retraining him on.

The other horses in his category are amazing!
