just to see if any forum readers remember this centre and what date it closed down..it is now in a change of use planning application for the centre to be changed to residential use and the construction of 6 detached houses..this seems a shame as would have been great to see centre kept as it is and sold on as an equestrian centre as it is only about 2 miles from Dumfries town centre..if planning is approved this week perhaps a petition could be set up to stop this sad loss and put a stop to this yet another executive housing scheme...send me a message if you have any memories of using this centre ..and if you would be willing to sign a petition
best wishes chase

I live here in Dumfries and i've never heard of it lol, but i've only lived here for about 7 years and only started riding bout 3 years ago.
i get to ride at Mossburn but i've said yes as i don't think you can have enough really, and we could do with an extra around here.
the brand new equestrian centre here is fully booked already i believe.

hi rosebank is up near the crichton on bankend road,it is a lovely setting..it appears to be semi derelict and in the old tack room there are loads of rosettes.the centre was run by a Gail Dempster i think they had issues re the pasture land when the crichto was taken over by council..still would make a lovely centre once again if yoiu fancy a look its up a country lane the first on the left after the aston hotel roundabout..at the crichton..it was a base for riding for the disabled..ps when you refer to mossburn do you mean the animal sanctuary??

Sorry I cant remember exactly when it closed
I did RDA there between 1986 and 96
My son jumped in their summer evening SJ comps from approx 91-97
The owners moved abroad and their daughter(qualified instructor) started her own family and it was impossible for her to carry on teaching and running the Centre from a location 15+ miles away
I think saving this is not a possibility
It had a great atmosphere with a strong band of weekend helpers who had their club room.
I do agree the area needs a new riding school as Deepwater also closed for lessons
The nearest centres now are Chariots of Fire at Boreland and Epona at Milton
Puzzled as to which centre Black Baby refers to.

oh right, i know where you mean now.
Yep, i mean Mossburn Animal Centre
