I've seen these used as a supplement (for arthritis?). Can I just dry the millions at the yard and feed to the horse? Or can I give them straight off the rose bush? Are they as effective fresh?

Fairly sure they can be fed fresh

Though I would pick them all and dry some or freeze them maybe so you can feed them out of season too!!!!

I feed them fresh. Have been picking them off the bush in my garden and putting a handful in my ponies dinner. I think they really help as I have now run out and he seems slower and stiffer this week.

I used to feed these to our old pony, I used to pick and dry in our wood burning oven, be careful not to dry out too much. You can feed them raw but they dont always eat them, whereas he always ate the dried ones in his feed.
