Following on from the thread about rosettes, as a child I remember seeing display cases (like a deep picture frame) made up to hold a few very special rosettes and a photo.
A friend's parents used to show welsh ponies and has several of these, which looked very nice.
Does anyone know of companies that still do this?
I got a local framer to make one for my OH last year but it was very expensive and I was disappointed with the results so if there are any specialists out there.....

I haven't used any of these suppliers personally but a quick google search came up with these...

Or you could visit a local craft fair - a proper one where they have the real craft workers there and not someone selling imports - and talk to the crafters. There should be a cabinet maker. If you can see his work and talk to him directly (or her!) then you should be more assured of a good product at the end.

I make mine - bit of thin plywood at the back, cover it in sheep netting or strips of string horizontally (whatever available)

Used to use sheets of perspex but it's quite expensive and difficult to cut so I now go for cheapie clear plastic

Then buy a length of dado rail from B&Q to make a frame round it.

I tend to do them as quickly as possible so they look a bit crap, but I'm sure if I went slower and more carefully they could look quite good!

I use bits of spare wood - so costs virtually nothing.

Mine are hung in the stable so open to getting damp which is why I use wood.

If you're going to hang yours up at home there's no reason why the back of it can't be a piece of rigid cardboard - you're not going to be able to see it once it's covered in rossies!
