Hi I'm looking for recommendations for the best round bales hay nets. Alico and Gee tec seam to have varying reviews.
Any one had a good experience for the durability of these I'd appreciate your advice.
May thanks

I have one that I bought several years ago, not sure what the brand was but off ebay, I think its was about £60. Its got the odd whole but not overly generous in size. I bought a pair of hockey nets off ebay for £40 which were just as good, but you can cover a bigger bale. I use a ring feeder as well, as mine are very clever at getting the hay out what ever I use and it stops them trashing the bale, they have to eat from the top.

I'm impressed with the hockey net idea but I'm pretty rubbish at doing anything like that. Have you found the real one you bought did actually fit over a round bale. I have read conflicting reviews on the nets.

You have reminded me I need to buy another one :) Think mine was a Gee tec, cost about £40 and lasted almost 3 years, used in a ring feeder. Overall pleased, saved a lot of waste and also prevented wasted hay being trampled and creating horrible black stinking boggy mats. Disappointed with the tie pull though.

My experience was not encouraging with an eBay net. It worked great when I first put a bale out but when it got down to the last third it did not achieve anything and the horses walked over the bale. Separating the net from the remains of a soggy bale was very hard work. It formed holes rapidly. I suppose it lasted six months maximum. In the end I bought a ring feeder. So much better. Much less work, no wastage at all. I am converted. I have not tried the net and ring feeder combination as the feeder contains the bale just fine.

I've just ordered the Tricklenet one, so will hopefully be able to report back soon. I opted for the smallest holes going, for use either with ring feeder or without.

I think using the net with a barrier of some sort will be the best option. I will look forward to hearing what you think to the Tricklenet and get my husband to get his building something suitable skills head on
