God know but I have 3 horses who eat loads and one round bale lasts me 2 weeks in the winter. Its alot cheaper for me than square and the YO makes her own!!
Im quidsin all round this year!
I think we get about 13-14 small bales in one large round bale of hay. Ive just had 8 round bales delivered and the farmer said that it was equivalent to well over 100 little bales. I really like them, having 5 horses they work out fairly economical and i don't find they make too much mess either!
Last year we paid £25 for rounds equivalent to 8 bales and 2 horses were eating one every 3 or 4 days. This year we have paid £35 and they are more like 10-12 small bales. Just to throw a spanner in the works the size of my small bales varies hugely depending where I buy them
