RS tor

I haven't used one - sorry - but am very interested to hear if anyone else has. It 'sounds' like a great idea but I'd love to know if it works in practice.

I've used one to ride my youngster who bucks and the last thing you want to be doing is holding a strap on the neck!
With the RStor I can sit back, keep my head up and pull myself deeper in to the saddle.
Survived some huge spook/buck/drop shoulder and gallop off in opposite direction too!!

Because you are always holding it like a whip you don't have to remember to grab it if something happens.

Highly recommended :)

Good recommendation from you then! May get one, may stop me worrying about falling off all the time. Where did you get yours from, if you don't mind me asking?

Foxy1 I need you to come and ride my youngster !! seriously I was looking at these but couldnt work out from the ads how they worked, im not a fan of neck straps either, do you hold the reins normally as well as the rs-tor ? does it restrict movement with your hands/the reins ?

I got mine on ebay but it was new from Libby's; £39.99 !!!! Nearly choked at the price but thought I would rather pay forty quid than come off my youngster at speed....

They are quite long so you can get your hands forward for jumping, it doesn't restrict your movement of reins at all even when using an open rein for 'baby steering'.

You just hold it in one hand (with the rein as well) the same as you would hold a whip. The bit you hold is very flexible and soft and not bulky but with a bobble on the end to stop it slipping right through your hand.

I don't even notice I'm holding it but when my horse has a 'moment' I'm very glad I've got it!

They look absolutely brilliant. Having a 17 y/o (going on 3!) p/l mare who likes to catch people unawares and jumping a horse who is only learning sounds like a fab idea...!

I've got one, it's a useful bit of kit but I think it's a bit over priced, I like it because you can keep hold of it all the time but you can still keep you hands in their usual position.

I had a few teething problems with my new horse, she used to buck & jump about & as I didn't know her very well I was worried her bucks would turn into full on broncs, they didn't but having hold of the RS tor gave me the confidence to work through our problems.

She's been so good I haven't needed it for a few weeks but I kept it on the saddle just in case, I was glad of it yesterday as she was very fresh & the hunt was in the area, so we had an interesting hack! I kept hold of it & carried on, without it I think I would have gone home.

Just gone a brought one!! My husband says I've paid an awful lot of money for a piece of c**p!! He could just as easily attached a piece of string to my saddle, hahahaha!! Anyway I'm really looking forward to it arriving and have high high hopes for it!!

I was just thinking about these yesterday after landing on my head in the school!! They do seem expensive for what they are but if it stops that awful moment when you are in mid-air , knowing it's going to hurt, I might just give it a go!
