RSPCA and the "adopt a staffie" campaign

First time I have been able to feel positive about them for a very long time. If their messaging can stop would be owners from being scared off by their poor reputation it would be brilliant.
 
You know, I have never felt anything remotely unsavoury towards a staff, we have a whole host of gorgeous staffies by us, one of which holds my dogs in the lowest regard - he ignores them while he's playing happilly with his boy. And the other, my two actually made him high tail all the way back to his owner :p
 
Anything that encourages people to think positively about staffies has to be a good thing and i'm really pleased they are thinking outside the box. Mum has a staffie and he is a super chap.

Anything anyone needs to know about the duvet stealing snoring monsters I'm happy to answer. I have 3 of my own (crosses) and currently have 2 fosters at home and I think at last count 6 in the rescue I help with. Considering we only have 10 kennels it shows what a crisis the breed is currently going through.

Although should be getting better as they've been replaced in the affections of a certain group of people with husky types now so this time next year we'll be begging for home for them instead.

I love people. Really.

It's already happening and you couldn't pick a more unsuitable breed for the average numpty who wants to look 'ard. :rolleyes:

I had an RSPCA chugger knock on the door last week and sent her away with a flea in her ear, if she'd mentioned this campaign I might have given her a little more of my time!
 
I cant do with the sspca or the rspca bullies with hats, exploiting dogs for their own gains, pulling at old ladies heart strings for their money and getting any prosecutions they can, justifiable or otherise for statistics, phah!!!

Lol!! One came to me the other week, I opened the lounge door..showed her the 12 dogs that were in it at the time, pointed to my van parked on the drive which has the rescues name all over it and said 'do you really think I'm going to donate to your managements new car fund while I'm involved in all this?' :rolleyes:
 
i think it is a great idea they are promoting the dog! all to many times i have heard people saying they are nasty and shouldnt be round children ext. i have 3 and when i walk them and people walk past with kids they grab there kids and move them away like i am diseased or something! i have had staffs as long as i can remember and all of them have been with my kids, not one of them ever growled or shown any aggression towards them. they are lovely family pets and make great friends for kids as they are so relaxed it the way they go about things (even though they are always full of energy!) and you know they house is safe (even though if anyone broke in they would probably get licked to death!)
it is a real shame that they are given such a bad rep.....bad owners make bad dogs through not being properly trained. or the poor things get chavs that buy them for status and turn them in to monsters. such a shame. there are staffie rescue centres around the country that already try to promote the breed. well done to the rspca for starting it too. :)
 
cobgirlie - aha, its not just mine who is a sucker for a duvet then! Its the first thing he does if I forget to shut our bedroom door in the morning!

Positive about the RSPCA. I am fully paid up staffie fan with my 2 snoring behind me. Hogging the duvet? oh yes, my boy has decided it is too cold for him so he stays IN my bed for as long as possible. Both mine are rescues too and I have had some extremely ignorant comments levied at me. The reaction when I open my mouth and take the offenders to task is pretty funny though - apparently surrey sounding women don't "do" staffies - particular when I ask them if they have had an education or any sort of manners taught...
