RSPCA involved again!

From past experience of the RSPCA not suffering did not include a horse with a broken leg along with many emaciated others in a field, reported to them many times by local residents of a small village, they had access to water and hay (once every few days) so they were ok:confused: seen some past treads about RSPCA and everyone has their own opinion, mine is I would NEVER donate to them and would never call them in a crisis!

A link to the horses rescued from Gloucester in the floods, so the RSPCA have been monitoring for 6 months? so why then are they in such ill health?

After reading link, I despair, why cannot the brilliant vet from Redwings be asked for opinion on their condition. That vet deals with all the worse cases that you can imagine, and if they say horses/ponies are okay I would believe it. After seeing top photo, all I can think is, would they not have been better, PTS at first site. They must be in total misery, the poor poor things. Come on Redwings they need you...

Given that the horses have been neglected in the past and the authorities involved, the welfare counter should surely not run from zero again - what I mean is, is if the owner has had to be warned before, then any sort of neglect in the future shouldnt result in a cosy chat and must do better, the horses should be removed immediately because the owner had no excuse about ignorance of what they should be doing.

I too am concerned if this is how the horses look at the absolute peak condition time of the year....

Words Fail me How much More do These Poor Horses have to Suffer The rspca are ******* USELESS and are only Interested in getting in the News I had a major fight with them in the Bad winter of 2010 with a Herd of Starving Suckler Cows and Calves Locally. The Owners of these poor Horses need to be prosecuted and BANNED for Life from Keeping Any Animals.

Unfortunately the law is incredibly limiting, it may be that rspca have done everything in their power within the law so far. The law really needs tightening up :(

The law is not that limiting.....failure to get veterinary care is still an offense and there is video & photographic evidence of the deterioration of these horses.

Trouble is not enough people in a position to do anything know enough of the legal options even though they are clear.

I have access to a group who campaign and lobby for changes in various institutions - maybe we should campaign for the RSPCA to have some sort of meaningful accountability. There is no real means of feeding back to them their shortcomings - I have even tried by writing to Ann Widdicombe, one of their trustees, which was not even replied to. That is where we should be concentrating our efforts IMO.

This is why I think the ASPCA , is a more worth while charity, they have more power and actually do something to earn their respect.

Even in another country they have a better reputation. When I see other overseas Charities say like the Gambia one, they put the RSPCA to shame with all the things they do

There's The Charities Commission, but as with all things, it seems, when it comes to The Charities, or any body which purports to act in the best interest of welfare, there seem to be few who are in a position to question or influence their moral code. The odd journalist has a pop at them, but any concerns are brushed aside by the mantle of "Welfare", or worse still "Charity".

Whilst the grass roots of the rspca continue to follow down the corridor of blind faith, so those who direct the operation will continue to believe in their own distorted and personal agendas.

Alec.
