Just watched the programme about the above and they were rescueing a starving staffie X. They got the dog, obviously dehydrated and starving, took him in the van to the vets, where the vet examined him, blood tested him, weighed him etc and this must have taken at least an hour.
Then after all that they offered the dog a drink. he was desperately thirsty and drank it all, then they fed him.
Now far be it for me to be an expert, but surely as the house they rescued it from had a tap, why didn't they offer it a drink before doing anything else?
I got increasingly cross seeing them poke and prod it, when it was obvious it was in need of a drink..
The owner got prosecuted and fined £200. Why didn't they send her for community service to the RSPCA for six months instead?
Grrrrr sometimes I could throw a brick at the tv screen!

I can't watch them - just find them all too frustrating. Total lack of common sense most of them.

Now the American animal rescue programmes are a whole different ball game....

I have to agree, just watched the same thing and I was willing them to leave the poor thing alone, how many times was the word emaciated used? I think the reason for not giving it a drink straight away is it would have taken away from the blood results, she said that the blood was very dark which is evidence of extreme dehydration, another piece of evidence for the prosecution.... he was a lovely dog though, amazing how they can stay so loving after all that. (and how come she ws only banned for three years, surely that shoudl be a life ban, noone is ENTITLED to keep a dog).

Poor chap also had half his tail cut off ..... obviously after injuring it in the RSPCA 'care', strangely they glossed over that!

I have no time at all for them as a group, they are more of a political party nowadays
