My boots are rubbing my sensitive lad on his flanks, I've been using hypocare evening and morning. I've been putting Vaseline on to ride but it just doesn't seem to be getting better. I've given him three days off but then today almost back to square one. Even been very cautious of using my leg.

Does anyone have any more suggestions I can try?

I fear I may just have to give him a holiday :-(

Different boots.

They aren't Ariats by any chance are they? I can't ride CM in my Ariat Coniston boots as they rub her. i thought it was the spur rests, so I filed them down, but it turned out to be the seam near the heel.

Yes bromonts but had them and the horse for years, I'm hoping its just coat change that's making it worse this year!

Are they just rubbed hair or the skin as well? I think I remember something about using surgical spirit? I can't really remember though so don't quote me, perhaps somebody else will know? For getting the hair to grow back I can really recommend megatek rebuilder.
