Dermots first show is on the 6th of May. He's doing the Inhand hunter type horse and Riding club horse *hoping the classes dont clash*

Trouble one is his combo winter rug has rubbed a section of his mane and after this point the manes not that nice. He'll of had two months for it to repair by the time of the show *Whats the chances *

How does a plait-lette go about plaiting his mane?

Would he be wanting a bum pattern? If so what one? *Ignore first tail plait of the year*

As we have a 10mile xc ride the weekend after he will be more tonned and fitter! I have trimmed his fetlocks etc, Pulled his mane neater and cut his tail *not pulled tail as prefer plaited* Any other tips to get him looking his best are very welcome!

Ps...Sorry about posting twice just people in here that might be able to help that don't go in the other room.

try a mark todd hood , stops the rug from rubbing, im assuming he is still wearing a rug ? ?

The hood will protect the mane from rubbing further if you still have a rug on . Just make the plaits stretch out more as take abit of mane from each side of the rub (if it hasnt grown out by then ) and plait it to cover the rub . Im sure it will be fine , he looks well

get yourself some megatek and you might just have enough mane in 2 months time.

If not, find a suitable grey donor, take some tail hair and plait it, then plait what you have sewing the false plait to the real plait (underneath the mane hair) then roll up as normal and there you have a false plait.

As for the quater marks, big plain squared is the norm. something like the horse in theis pic which is FMM's hunter

Pulled tails are the norm in the showring and at anything above local level you will not see a plaited tail.

No hes been without the rug for a month and it's about a month till the show. Not pulling his tail as I don't like it *very rare to see one which doesn't remind me of a hacked bog bursh*

Thanxs for tips on mane tho!

I would cut about 6 inches of the bottom of his tail - Charlie76's tail looks about the right length. It will make his tail look fuller as well.
