Rubber arenas

Hi, I am considering having some rubber put on my arena and would like the "larger strips", thinking this might be better at stopping the hooves breaking the surface. Anyone else got this stuff, who sells it, and what do you level it with? Thanks!

google your local supplier and email them. i only know people with the smaller chunk stuff.

Thanks! I am impatient! am waiting for some samples atm. Dont really want the "nuggets", am interested to see the Alruba rubber, as a lot of people have recommended them to me. Anyone seen that?

I have the larger strips. Great to ride in but difficult to level. I have a tyne harrow thingy as suggested by people who built my arena but it dont work well!!! Get huge mounds of rubber. So I use a rake instead!!! Fortunately as I am the only one who uses arena, very spoiled I know, I dont have to do it too often.

The hooves dont break the surface. If I get a chance I will take a photo of arena 3 years since it was built. Still looks as new.

Without wishing to hijack your post I also would love to know of a good leveller to use!!!!!!

Agree with above poster - a friend of mine had strips and found it very difficult to level the sand underneath - even though hubby is a farmer and has equipment to do it.

Ended up pulling it up and having small chunks.

Personally I've ridden on stips and found it almost slippery when the sand is dry and the strips move on it - much prefer chunks myself

Yes. I see your point. I was thinking that the thing wouldnt need levelling much if the hooves werent making a track, but as you say, the sand does dry out in summer, so maybe the chunks would be better (and cheaper, I think!)

We have the long strips. I do think they make a better surface than rubber chips, they seem to last longer, as they dont mix in with the sound so quickly, they also have good spring. The Yo harrows it every couple of weeks using a quad bike with a tyre harrow harrow attatched to the back, it does a good job.... Best surface Ive ridden on I think.

I have no idea who they had it off, sorry. I would ask, but they might eat me!
