I have unsuccessfully tried to fit the rubber stop thingies to my martingale neck strap today & have broken two in the process.

I've done a search on here to see what everyone recommends and I have tried hot water and really don't understand the baling twine method.

Can anyone give me any top tips for this fiddly horrible job please. There's no rush, I have to wait until next week to buy more stops now!

Only way I have been able to do it is brute strength and an extra pair of hands :) Can you borrow a muscly young man?

Oh I wish.....:D :D

As an alternative I could use a not so young & not so muscly husband but I think it was my brute strength that broke the two I have tried today.

Thank you lizness - that makes much more sense than the old threads I looked up which involved fence posts, door handles etc etc.

I will give the next batch a try when I get them - good job they aren't expensive.

I get a hoofpick to hold it in position over the ring which stops it popping off and then push/pull it over the widest point of the ring onto the leather bit. I do each ring separately and then thread the neck strap through which is the easiest bit of all... Minimal huffing and puffing required...

Just a cheap basic hoofpick, not one of your fancy expensive ones...
