Ow! I was just tying up my horses haynet, and as you do swinging on it to get it as high as possible. Bl**dy string broke while I had my full weight against it, so I just went my length onto the stable floor.

So as I have discovered, the rubber is not exactly a mattress. I have a VERY sore hindquarter

I did buy the cheaper rubber rather than the EVA, but the fact I can now only sit sideways makes me wonder if perhaps I should have splashed out on the cushioned stuff. Or perhaps just more expensive haynets

Hehe I did that. I was leaning really far backwards as it was soaked hay and really heavy, and then the string broke and I fell backwards onto my bum! Luckily I had just mucked out the stable and it had a lovely deep bed!
 
I suppose the saving grace is that the beds were clean! However my stables are quite big so I fell on the exposed bit, grrrr.

No wonder my girls lie on the bed not the mats. I am beginning to think this whole revolution is a bit of a marketing con

We have the cow mayo mats in our 3 boxes, I think they are EVA as slightly spongy. Haven't fallen on them, but my mare has flung herself onto her knees on seeing vet with syringe, and has also stood on my toe. Both would have been much sorer if the stable floor had been concrete rather than rubber.
Go and rub some arnica cream on your sore bum, it will stop the bruising, hope you feel better soon.

I'm sure I would laugh too - if I could move at all!!

Me thinks I am going to be very stiff at work tomorrow, and then have to explain to my (very non-horsey) work colleagues what happened.

Typical, rode my crazy chestnut for the first time in a month this weekend, expecting fireworks and injuries, and she was good as gold. But tackling a haynet - way too adventurous, it should be left to trained experts only

I have one stable without mats (currently no horse in it) but I do think I'll investigate the EVA. Not least because, having just moved 13 mats to our new house from my old yard, it took me about a week to recover physically

I used arnica when I fell off last time, but I also used Ibuprofen (Nurofen) when it was too sore as it helped with the inflamation. Hope this helps. I too have fallen over putting up a haynet, they really are dangerous didn't you know lol.
 
The mats I have are quite hard when I stand/jump on them but when horsey stands on them the dip under her weight. I haven't landed on them tho - the only hay related accident I had was fishing my (large) haynet out of the soaking bath only to fall in....

Perhaps haynets should be left to trained grooms.....
