any advice on either??

i bought 6 thick very heavy rubber mats from scats last year at a cost of around £280 and the mats near the door are worn with holes/rips in (someone told me it's cheap rubber from india). I have a further 5 stables that need doing and been scouring the internet and found a good deal on EVA stable mats 1m sq interlocking mats at a cost of £12 per 1m sqd. bloke was truthful and said that once in hard to get ''back in'' as mats expand with time etc. anyone got any advice on what i should buy and any good deals about!??

We have used rubber mats for around 7 years now and they don't show any signs of wear.
They are the 6' x 4' ones - some have a little channel underneath and others like a croc skin effect. We got them from the Horsemat company, I think they cost around £35 per mat. I chose these over the EVA mats as I was warned that the EVA are rather absorbant and therefore really stink of wee.

Our mats do get a little slippy so definately need some bedding on top - we are quite tight about the bedding due to not wanting a manure heap - so all manure goes out in bags to the gardeners who pass by. The horses do get stable stains and the indoor rugs do get very smelly, but other than that we are really pleased with them.

We are the same as this but ditto the point re being slippy. In heavy rain and ice they are lethal when horses come in and turn. Not showing any sign of wear at 5 years old. We similarly use little bedding but tbh I'd think twice about using any at all if i had new stables and might go for the more 'grid' looking ones with drainage

I have 2 horses one on EVA matting and the other on rubber matting (I was given the rubber matting when I purchased new horse). I bought the 6x4ft EVA matting from Robinsons (I think they were £50 a mat) and I cannot recommend them enough. I find it is no more smelly than normal mats and I can lift them by myself to clean. Normal rubber mats are extremely slippy when wet, but not the EVA mats. In the past I did have the interlocking mats and I would not recommend them. When you take them out to clean they never go back the same way and the gaps between them gradually get bigger. Hope this helps

thanks guys, think i'm going to try EVA, the ones i've found are interlocking, but at the price of £10 per sq metre, cant say no when buying for five 12 x12ft stables. the rubber matting in my no1 stable has been there almost a year and just broke my back and took AGES dragging it out to clean/jet wash stable for spring .... blummin thing was, the underneath was dry as a bone and clean so waste of blinkin time!

interesting about rubber being slippy. always thought it was my TB with jelly legs when she'd slip standing up from lying down. and she's barefoot at the moment! knocks her water about all over the place though!!!

really appreciate feedback xx:)
