Rubber mats

I’m going to rubber mat the walls and floors of my new stables. After looking online at all the different mats I’m completely stumped as to what to go for! Is 10mm too thin for the walls? I’ve seen mats up to 34mm thick for floors. Is thicker the better? The horses will be in day or night and we’re planning on sealing the mats. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thick for the floor and thinner for the walls will be fine

Are you likely to move the floor ones at all or are you sticking them down? If you plan to move them bear in mind the weight and number of people available 34mm will be bloody heavy

EVA mats are much lighter and I prefer them as a result; I have to wrangle mats on my own and the rubber ones are bloody heavy

They’re EVA. I’m wanting to stick them down. Do you know if they can be stuck down and are they as tough as rubber? Sorry for the questions

I'm not sure about sticking them down, I never have
I would imagine they are not as tough as rubber although my longest EVA matted stable (going since 2008) is still fine other than a worn patch by the door where the horse used to stand pawing
if you are using EVA mats remember to leave a gap round the outside; they do expand and will bulge without a gap

Also, just to add to the choices, you can get rubber topped EVA mats which are pretty hard wearing.

Personally I wouldn't stick them down as they will expand with the horse's weight on them, and sticking them down won't allow that movement.
