The rubber matting (Ark mats) in my mare's stable is lifting and seems to have stretched, so can't go back down completely. It was all installed by our house's prior owners so not sure how long it's been down. I am thinking I need to trim down the excess and then glue back down somehow, so just looking for advice on what's best to use to cut through the mats and what's best to stick them back down? Thank you :)

As long as they are flush with each other they shouldn't rise up too much.

However, that said I know mine used to where the shavings would sometimes go under and I'd have to lift one or two, get the pick part of the hoof pick and scrape it back out so the mat would lay flush again.

Is it the heat? They do expand quite a lot. They may go back into place once it cools down
No I don't think so, they've been lifting since xmas or so. Previously we just scraped out the bedding from underneath and whacked it back down, but we've been having to do that more and more frequently and in the last 3 months or so the mats won't go back down flush. We're having to remove bedding (aubiose) every day and then try and wedge it back down as best we can, but it's not flat and I'm worried about tripping hazards (for both me and my girl!). It was just the one mat initially but 2 others are now starting to lift and it's becoming a real chore having to muck out, scrape bedding back, wrestle the mats in, and then put the bed back every day.

It would probably be easiest to remove them all and get new mats put down, but we're trying to keep costs down as far as possible for now so really just looking for an effective solution :)

i have equimats and they have stretched and now have raised bubbles in them.

You are supposed to install with a gap around the sides of the stable as they do expand quite a lot. I’ve found a Stanley knife and a long ruler is the way to go. If you score the line 90% through and then get someone to bend the edge over you can cut through the line you have just scored in one go for a neater finish to the edge. Worth measuring up to get good fit.
