Hi

Our lorry currently has a wooden ramp, but it needs some love and attention, so we are thinking of putting a rubber mat down...

I know it needs to be quite thin (maybe 10mm?) so not to impact the weight of the ramp, but does anyone have any other considerations?

And does anyone have any recommendations of where to buy it from or how much this should cost?

thanks.

You can use carpet or rubber. 10mm would be too thick i reckon

Just a thought for you- but i kept the coir fibre matting on my ramp and laid strips of rubber matting either side of the aluminium treads and when i had loading isses as my girls shoes kept slipping on the runners and it worked a treat!.

You can get the textured rubber matting ( like on i/w trailors ) its called grip top but is really pricey and didnt come wide enough for a horsebox ramp ( just trailor width ).

It does make the ramp heavier but i can still do it on my own- but then im quite butch hehe.

Be really careful because some types of rubber matting get very slippery when they are wet. I echo the advice to get in touch with a horse box manufacturer

My Oh, put liquid rubber on my ramp, then mixed in sand to give it a rough texture, perfect grip now, before it had some carpet tile thingy on and was as slippy as hell when wet.

i would go for a heavy ramp carpet with aluminum or hard wood ramp slats as they are lighter than the rubber mat with builtin slats.
also if your ramp is on the heavy side it will only make it worse if you have no more adjustment on you springs...if you are ever in the andover area i would be happy to take look at it for you and let you no if that is the case.
