Does anyone else have a horse who manages to completely trash rubber matting?! Every night there is bedding underneath and he manages to trash the edges all the time.
anyone found a way round this? (The others don’t do it so can’t see why this one does?)

I just got rid of it I can't stand it when they move about it makes it really hard to muck out.

One way is get the really heavy ones and literally fit them wall to wall so they can't move, we used to have a bloke that came out and fitted them for you this way and they were better.

Other option is the liquid rubber floor only worth it if you own the stables though.

I just have massive shavings beds with one at the front now.

He’s even managed to ruin a really heavy one! I’ve tried just putting them at the front but it’s like a party takes place in there every night!

If the mats are only at the front, there's your problem.
Mats IMO should be fitted flush i.e wedged in so there is no room for manoeuvre. I have Equimats (the jigsaw ones, the edges that are next to the wall are straight) and never had an issue with a 700Kg cob who loved to sleep!

I’ve tried full stable with flush edging and fitted mats but still no joy. Maybe I’ll just have to give up!
Sorry to sound dumb but how does he manage to dig them up if they are flush to the wall with shavings on top of them? One of my mats moves about two inches as is slightly shorter than the others but its no biggy, I maneouvere it back into place. Neither of the two horses that have had rubber matting have ever dug up their rubber mats.

Does he have sufficient hay to keep him occupied or is he just bored?

Literally no idea! I’ve never had a horse like it over the decades!
ad-lib hay, 12 hours turn out, regularly ridden. It’s like they somehow manage to get up a corner and take it from there. I currently have 2 others with exactly the same set up and no issues there at all!
