I'm having issues finding a bit my tb is happy in, so far we've tried:
-Loose ring KK French link snaffle
-Fulmer french link snaffle
-Loose ring snaffle
-Myler 02 low port snaffle
-Hanging cheek mullen mouth with independent sides

So, I was thinking of trying a rubber snaffle, it's soft and flexible and no nut cracker action but it's thick and very mild, could it be too mild? Or will it be too think for his little tb mouth?

Simple option of course would be to just pop a flash on to stop him evading but IMHO he's doing it for a reason so would prefer to get to the bottom of it.

Have you tried a Neue Schule? My boy had a french ling happy mouth snaffle first and then started to evade and chew. He has a very soft mouth and I wanted to keep it that way. I put him in a Neue Schule starter bit and he really likes it, is soft and relaxed through his jaw :) I use it for everything (schooling, hacking, jumping, lunging and lead reign classes) :)

I had the same issue with my tb, tried every bit under the sun. Put in a rubber snaffle and he improved so much! I also took off his noseband too. Went right back to basics with his flat for a month or two and he improved ten fold. Went on to jump him and needed a little extra so used a thick mouth hollow French link loose ring, which he took too well and added a running martingale. He is out hunting every week in this combo and loving it.

Think the rubber snaffle was so soft it helped to rebuild his mouth, as before ridden in a gag/Pelham with a hard handed rider too.

I think I might try the rubber snaffle, they're pretty cheap and it might be a good first step in getting him happier in his mouth.

Dear god it's a good job I don't retrain horses for a living, two and half years and if anything he's gone backwards! :D
